Welcome to Sahuaro Elementary School!

About Our School
All schools in the Washington Elementary School District are committed to achieving excellence for every child, every day, every opportunity, and Sahuaro School is no exception.  Sahuaro is a "Highly Performing" school serving approximately 600 kindergarten through 6th grade students in west Phoenix. The curriculum is fully aligned with State Standards, and in addition to the academic subjects, Sahuaro provides art, music and PE for all grade levels.

Sahuaro School uses the Responsible Thinking discipline process, a unique way of helping students become thinkers and problem solvers.

Our Mission
Sahuaro's mission is to educate all students so they will become lifelong learners and productive members of society. Every child will learn and show academic growth, as measured by the Arizona State Standards. Our school will involve families and staff in a systematic intervention process to ensure student success.

  • Early Release Wednesdays
The Washington Elementary School District provides Early Release Wednesdays so that teachers can work together in teams to ensure the best possible instruction for your child. Research supports that professional learning communities that support teacher growth also reflect best practices for students and high student achievement. Every Wednesday, unless otherwise announced, our students will be released one-and-a-half hours early, so please be sure that arrangements are made to have your child cared for on our early release Wednesdays.
